In 2005 I moved to Australia from Devon, UK, with my husband Gareth and my two children, currently 14 and 12 years. I am originally from Pembrokeshire in Wales. Whilst in the UK I was a police officer for 16 years whilst my husband was in the Royal Navy. This lead to an interesting life! We emigrated for a better way of life and the Royal Australian Navy provided this opportunity for us. I found a new career as an Education Assistant at Leeming SHS Education Support Centre and during 2010 I enrolled as a mature aged student at Murdoch University to embark on a new journey towards becoming a Primary school teacher.
I am aware this will be a slow, but hopefully rewarding process. In the meantime I still enjoy getting out and about pounding the streets to clear my head in between all the sports and school activities of my children.

Well, here I am at last, sitting down to get on with my task. My very first website and blog page. Week one at Uni started last week and already the discussion posts are very active on EDN113. I have been feeling rather apprehensive about this unit which is why I managed to arrange my day off from work to attend Uni as an internal student this semester. I am feeling worried that as a mature aged student I won't have the knowledge base that school leavers have. Having said that though, I have read chapter one of our text book and I can see the value in doing this task as it is a more meaningful learning experience for me. I have shocked myself by actually being able to complete a front page and now this, my first blog! I have only used Yola as the discussions praised the site for being easy, and lo and behold, everyone was right. Now to upload more photos....shame I have a few more wrinkles than some of the younger student's pages I have read!
