About Me

In 2005 I moved to Australia from Devon, UK, with my husband Gareth and my two children, currently 14 and 12 years. I am originally from Pembrokeshire in Wales. Whilst in the UK I was a police officer for 16 years whilst my husband was in the Royal Navy. This lead to an interesting life! We emigrated for a better way of life and the Royal Australian Navy provided this opportunity for us. I found a new career as an Education Assistant at Leeming SHS Education Support Centre and during 2010 I enrolled as a mature aged student at Murdoch University to embark on a new journey towards becoming a Primary school teacher.
I am aware this will be a slow, but hopefully rewarding process. In the meantime I still enjoy getting out and about pounding the streets to clear my head in between all the sports and school activities of my children.

I have just come from this lecture, which I think was probably one of the most informative. Jan presented it well but I feel that it woud have benefitted me earlier in the course. I still feel that my blogging has been ok and I am on right track, but seeing some of the slides and examples has shown me the level of input required. As Jan said,"reflection on action" has been shown, or at least I think it has, but possibly I could have added a few more ideas or actually written down what else I ... Continue reading...

Ok, it seems blogging isn't actually my thing! I was actually enjoying reflecting on what I am doing and how I am learning from the course and applying what I have learnt. Obviously not quite got it right! Happy I did got over half marks but will have to re-evaluate my future posts and become more specific. Already spend a lot of time on this unit and it appears I will just have to step things up a bit more. Not sure how Dani struggled to find my link to iTunes as it is on a page listed on co... I had the joy of a job to link what we are doing with the scope and sequence for our topic. After highlighting everything relevant I have written it up as a word doc for the moment but must somehow make it more appropriate to the web page. Will show the other girls what I have done on Tuesday and see what they think. Also picked up some useful tips this week off LMS, will create Diigo to collate useful pieces of info for the future. Like how it can be accessed from any computer. Continue reading...

Seems there is a lot of confusion out there over Assgnmt 2. I have given a response on LMS and helped someone out who emailed me. It does make me concerned that maybe WE are the ones who aren't getting it correct if everyone else seems to be struggling. As far as I can see it is pretty straight forward on p15 of the unit guide. Maybe it's my imagination though, as I love being creative and coming up with these types of ideas. I expect next Tuesday will yell though when we show our progression! Continue reading...

Last night was another of those nights when I could have thrown the computer against a wall!! I had done so much ready for 2a and wanted to put it all down before the workshop today but no, Yola kept freezing on me. I have no idea as the others in my group had no problem. Anyway, turns out today that we have all worked well on our assignment and I think it will all come together pretty good. Showed our ideas to Dani today and hopefully he thought it was going ok. We were asked a few questions... Continue reading...

I can't believe we aren't actually guided towards particular chapters of our textbooks. I feel I am ok as I do read a lot and today I have read loads which has given me ideas for this assignment. In fact, there are too many to mention. I will add them tomorrow as I have loads more to do tonight, including a sick child. I am pleased to see that someone else is adding to our webpage (Tech2a). I have had a reply from the Australian Olympic Committee to say that we can link their webpage to our s... Continue reading...

At least with this week being a study week we were able to meet up for a few hours. I suggested in the last workshop that we might use the subject of Olympics 2012. This seemed to go down ok and I researched the scope and skills section. Our meting resulted in our age group, topic, tasks and webpage being decided upon, not bad for week 1 of the assignment. We weren't sure though whether to use the Education site on Yola or the personal site, a quick email to Dani and we are still awaiing a re... Continue reading...

Yes, I know that referencing is done in alphabetical order, yet I have still acknowledged the iTunes playlist as they are listed. Think this will have to be changed. Will ask on LMS what others have done, although I expect most students have tirned their computers off after this assignment was submitted. Unfortunately my mind is still too active and I am already making notes for Ass2. My group is a lot younger than me but I think this will be good as they will remember what interested them in... Ha! The word deserves capitals as I feel like screaming! At the end of my foundation unit last year I had no mistakes at all in my essay. I thought I had it sussed, but then came this and now I am going round and round in circles. I know I am too late to check on whether Smilebox is correctly referenced and iTunes, but for now this will have to do as I am under pressure to get this in, get my son to camp and my daughter to netball...all at the same time! Timekeeping must be improved somehow! ... Continue reading...

Well, that was easy! I can't believe I managed to create a photo book so easily. I wish I had found this before. I have posted it to my Facebook page and already family have seen it. I kept the web page with photos of Europe on the site as well because I created this a while ago to show I could upload lots of photos onto one page. I tried to add my own music - "In My Life" by the Beatles but when I went to share it was not free, so I forgot about the music they provided. Next time I will add ... Continue reading...
