All about me!

About Me

Deborah Marjoram In 2005 I moved to Australia from Devon, UK, with my husband Gareth and my two children, currently 14 and 12 years. I am originally from Pembrokeshire in Wales. Whilst in the UK I was a police officer for 16 years whilst my husband was in the Royal Navy. This lead to an interesting life! We emigrated for a better way of life and the Royal Australian Navy provided this opportunity for us. I found a new career as an Education Assistant at Leeming SHS Education Support Centre and during 2010 I enrolled as a mature aged student at Murdoch University to embark on a new journey towards becoming a Primary school teacher. I am aware this will be a slow, but hopefully rewarding process. In the meantime I still enjoy getting out and about pounding the streets to clear my head in between all the sports and school activities of my children.

Second social sharing technology

Posted by Deborah Marjoram on Thursday, March 17, 2011
Rather worried! Have created two pages with all sorts of bits and pieces on but when I examine it closely i don't think all this info is enough. The other task I have been meaning to do for a whil is a photobook for my mum who lives in the UK. We visited her in January after being in Oz for nearly 6 years and followed this with a week in Europe. She hasn't seen our photos yet, so I think I will set to it shortly and will be able to shere the photos with all my family and friends who haven't s...

Authentic tasks

Posted by Deborah Marjoram on Thursday, March 17, 2011
At work today I have felt exhausted. My eyes are tired from computer work, yet I can see the start of this unit paying off. I continued working with the class today (9 Ed support 17/18yr olds) on our web page and boy, was my teacher impressed when I started talking to her about how this was an authentic task and great practice for me. We are using Weebly, as mentioned in a previous blog so again, new to me. Last lesson we created just the initial page which generated a further lesson on Upper...

Just checked my emails and had notification of comments..Yay!!!! Dani found me and has commented on the iTunes problem and my husband has checked up on me from Canberra!!!!! To be honest he has tested the form on the Womrun page under an alias (hello Gretal!!) and it works! This will be good for students to use in the future and I noticed when I joined the site to download the widget that it has an educators spot - must remember! Feeling much happier now and I think that will be all for tonig...

Used Jing

Posted by Deborah Marjoram on Wednesday, March 16, 2011
Just in case the iTunes saga interested anyone, I decided I had put in too much effort to dismiss iTunes as a social resource. I have therefore downloaded Jing as a result of trawling through the LMS discussions. It really was very easy to download. I accessed it through a link one of the students had posted and followed all the prompts from there. I signed in as a new user, watched the demo twice on how to capture and save a screenshot and hey presto, I managed to capture one playlist. This ...

iTunes result

Posted by Deborah Marjoram on Tuesday, March 15, 2011
Workshop today has me feeling good about the site on one hand, yet concerned about whether this social resource is good enough. Ok, so I have created a social resource page to put everything into context, but not sure if it actually reflects the amount of HOURS I have put in! It also seems that the hours I spent creating a running music list on iTunes may also not be  appreciated as I can't link them to web page. Just had an announcement from Jenni I need to look at though about what to do. H...

iTunes saga continues!

Posted by Deborah Marjoram on Monday, March 14, 2011
LMS came back up last night but no one replied! Don't know what all the students in my workshop are doing as nearly all mentioned iTunes. Perhaps it is me, I might be trying to do something past my abilities!! Anyway did have a reply today from a student and Jenny. Looks like I might have to make my list public using Ping and take a screenshot of my playlist. Of course, I have no idea at the moment how to do this!!! Friday looms quickly, and hubbie away, so all house stuff and kid driving is ...

iTunes v Windows media

Posted by Deborah Marjoram on Sunday, March 13, 2011

Ripping CD's straight onto iTunes is much faster and easier. Why didn't I do that yesterday? Decided I don't need to have songs on both systems so will only have them on my new itunes program from here on.

I had a new iPhone!!!! Talked about it for ages with my husband and decided that yes, I can manage it. Still getting a little confused with terms, but on the whole I think I will enjoy it. Just got to keep my kids off it! My husband loves me doing this unit, oh yes, he got one too!

iTunes saga...

Posted by Deborah Marjoram on Sunday, March 13, 2011
I will admit now that I am lazy when it comes to technology. If someone else can do it for me I will let them, and this has been the case with iTunes. To date my husband just sorts it out for me. I tell him what music I want and hey presto the music appears! So, although iTunes might sound like a boring option to those who do it themselves normally, for me it is a whole new area to add to my expertise..LOL!!!! This will probably be a long blog as I explain I did this on Friday evening. I was ...
