Week 8 lecture

I have just come from this lecture, which I think was probably one of the most informative. Jan presented it well but I feel that it woud have benefitted me earlier in the course. I still feel that my blogging has been ok and I am on right track, but seeing some of the slides and examples has shown me the level of input required. As Jan said,"reflection on action" has been shown, or at least I think it has, but possibly I could have added a few more ideas or actually written down what else I did. I have probably sold myself short by not mentioning, for example, how often I have helped people out on LMS and commented on people's websites, or even how I have used the new information learnt to apply in my work, which has made all this so authentic for me. Jan mentioned that we cannot obtain access to electronic whiteboards which seems rather ludicrous when nearly every classroom I work in has one. In my research for this weeks workshop I see that mobile ones are available, surely Murdoch Uni could afford at least one? Whilst researching the topic of EWB, I actually seemed to be overwhelmed with how much information is on the net to access. I wish I had found the program about Google earth before as I use a flat world map last year to try to convey countries to Ed support students. Using the EWB would have been fabulous and helped generate a more meaningful understanding as we "flew"around the world. I am also interested in researching further a Flip camera. Often the students aren't allowed to use the full on video recorder, but something like a Flip camera would be great and an instant resource. Youtube has many clips about the Flipcamera, one I watched which was quite informative was TeacherBites- Using a Flip Camera for Teaching and Learning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9kzHqcgkgg. Adding this link has shown me how this blog now would be more interesting for a reader.
